Designer Brandon Blackwood experienced tremendous growth in a short period of time, leaving his brand with supply chain and quality issues. Vice President Chris Ventry spoke to The New York Times about this not-so-uncommon problem for growing brands.
He notes the importance of having a team with diverse skillsets to help growing brands avoid quality control issues stating, “With such tremendous growth, there is a rush to utilize different, enhanced manufacturers. As a company grows, there’s a need to bring on sometimes a different side of the brain — in this sense, product development personnel or someone with a true understanding of manufacturing and quality control. That sometimes is not the designer’s area of expertise, it’s the expertise of someone else in the business.”
